"My family & I all use this dentist and they are great. My children are seen by Lynsey the childsmile nurse every 6 months and she is great with them. She shows them how they should be brushing their teeth in a fun & friendly way"
Treatment for Gum Health --- Hygiene Treatment
It is very important to maintain healthy gums. Gum Disease is very common and can cause bleeding gums and bad breath. Gum Disease tends to get worse over time and it is the most common cause of tooth loss. Also Gum Disease has now been linked to more serious conditions like Heart Disease.
We routinely screen patients at ‘check up’ appointments for signs of Gum Disease. If you have any issues we will inform you and discuss treatment options. We have information leaflets in the practice to help patients understand Gum Disease and its treatment.
Normally treatment to stabilise your gum health will be performed by a hygienist.
Sometimes patients with healthy gums will be advised to see the hygienist for a simple clean (scaling) or to have stain removed (polishing). Patients often ask to have this done.
We offer NHS and Private Hygiene appointments
NHS Hygiene Appointments
NHS hygienist appointments offer a treatment time of approximately 15 minutes and are particularly suited to patients requiring just a ‘clean up’ or with mild gum problems.
Private Hygiene Appointments
Patients with moderate or severe gum problems may wish to consider seeing a hygienist for private treatment. This service allows extended appointment times for enhanced delivery of care.
Your dentist or hygienist will advise you if he/she thinks you would benefit from Private Hygiene Treatment.
